50th Anniversary of Monitor National Marine Sanctuary
Saturday, February 1
Time: 6 p.m.
The Mariners' Museum and Park®, in partnership with NOAA's Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, invites you to Ironclad Legacy: Celebrating 50 Years of Monitor National Sanctuary. Designated in 1975, the shipwreck of USS Monitor became the Nation's first national marine sanctuary, and this year will proudly mark its 50th Anniversary on January 30, 2025.
To commemorate this magnificent accomplishment, we are hosting a special evening event to share with our trusted partners and supporters the work being done to preserve and interpret USS Monitor, and inspire the next generation of marine and conservation scientists.
During this exclusive event, you'll have the unique opportunity to:
- tour the Batten Conservation Complex;
- observe large artifacts in the conservation workroom;
- view Monitor's turret in the drained tank;
- engage with NOAA and Mariners' Team members; and
- hear fascinating stories of Monitor's innovative technology, its crew, and the work happening today to preserve this National Historic Landmark.
Please RSVP today!
